COVID-19 Infection Prevention: Detecting the Three Cs with CO2 Sensors!
This system, developed through a joint research project between the University of Electro-Communications and Creative Japan, conducts demonstration experiments to visualize a "ventilation index" in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, measuring CO2 concentration in a defined space related to the "three Cs" (closed spaces, crowded places, close-contact settings). Based on these measurements, it enables real-time monitoring of the number of people indoors, allowing for the analysis of crowd density. If the number exceeds the capacity appropriate for the room size, notifications can be sent to the administrator. Additionally, this CO2 concentration measurement can be utilized as a visualization system for ventilation environments (CO2 concentration) in university classrooms and similar settings. *Analysis based on CO2 concentration is patented. It is reported that cognitive function decreases at CO2 concentrations above 1000 ppm, feelings of drowsiness occur at levels above 2000 ppm, and performance during work significantly declines when concentrations exceed 2500 ppm. [Based on research from the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and the State University of New York, among others.]

basic information
Gently guiding people indoors for COVID prevention through the nudge effect Under the supervision of Professor Tomonori Hashiyama from the Graduate School of Informatics at the University of Electro-Communications, we will gently guide people indoors using the nudge effect. For the prevention of COVID-19, we will promote "ensuring social distance," "exiting outdoors," and "ventilating indoors," while for heatstroke prevention, we will encourage "using air conditioning," all through pictorial animations.
