Advanced property regeneration of recycled plastics using high-performance extruders.
Material property degradation mechanisms and a material property regeneration process utilizing self-healing capabilities.
Originally, recycled plastic has a reduced number of tie molecules, but when it is re-melted and molded, excessive shear is applied in the current situation, leading to a transformation into a state with fewer entanglements. As a result, the molded products exhibit a physically degraded state with poor force transmission. By maintaining a static state in the molten condition and applying physical regeneration that creates a state with many entanglements through self-recovery capability, it is possible to produce molded products with good mechanical properties. We are jointly advancing a physical property regeneration process with Fukuoka University that enables pelletizing molding utilizing self-recovery capability by installing a resin reservoir at the tip of a high-performance extruder, where shear does not occur, unlike in a conventional extruder.
