Fill the gap between the heating element and the cooling device. Increase the contact area to achieve the most effective heat conduction.

Application procedure: First, clean the surface of the heat device (heat sink) / heat source (CPU).

Next, use a scraper or another tool to apply thermal paste to the CPU. There is no need to apply it to the heatsink.
