Master Chamber is a standard master for Master-comparison leak test that was developed to solve the problem of maintaining master parts. 〇Overview The differential pressure leak tester applies test pressure to the work and the master, and it detects leaks based on the differential pressure between the work and the master. Instead of the traditional method that uses a work without leak as the master, standard Master Chambers that are stable over time and easy to install are now widely used. In particular, when used in conjunction with Mastering, adjustments become easier, and the high reproducibility characteristics of the Master Chambers improve detection accuracy.

〇 Role of the Master When test pressure is applied to the work, a rapid increase in air temperature occurs due to adiabatic changes. This temperature change becomes a source of error in measuring small leaks. In a differential pressure leak tester, the master compensates for the pressure changes caused by the temperature variations of the work, eliminating the errors. 〇 Principle and Structure of the Master Chamber The Master Chamber can be adjusted to match the thermal characteristics of the work by changing the number and spacing of the fins, thereby altering the ratio of volume to surface area. The Master Chambers A and B in the diagram below have different surface areas, resulting in differences in temperature stability and pressure change characteristics during the detection process. 〇 Advantages of Using a Master Chamber ● Can be adjusted according to the work thermal change characteristics ● Compact and takes up little space ● Cost effective compared to creating a master using the work. ● Reliable sealing with O-rings, providing excellent airtightness and long-term reliability. ● No volume change and excellent reproducibility of measurement. ● When used with Mastering, a single Master Chamber can be used for multiple types of work.

Cosmo’s Air Leak Testers began with the automation of cylinder block airtightness tests for engines in 1970. Our products are utilized in various fields including automotive parts, gas, water supply, medical, electrical, electronics, and food. In line with the overseas expansion of Japanese automakers, we began our own overseas expansion in 1983. We now have 24 sales and service offices in 13 countries.
