USB-compatible surge protector "CAT-PT1" that protects electronic devices from high voltage spikes.
The input power circuit for consumer electronics is designed to operate within "5V ± 5%" and is intended for use in stable power environments such as offices and homes. Recently, with the spread of M2M and IoT, there has been an increase in the use of consumer electronic devices such as smartphones, tablets, and computers in vehicle environments like cars, buses, trucks, trains, and construction machinery. However, due to the harsh power conditions in vehicles, consumer-level electronic devices often experience failures believed to be caused by high voltage spikes. In response, our company has developed a protection board to safeguard electronic devices from high voltage spikes that occur in harsh power environments. We provide this in a case that allows customers to use it in real-world environments, as a USB-compatible surge protector called "CAT-PT1."

basic information
In general, car power supplies use cigarette sockets (12V/24V), but cars have many noise sources that generate high-voltage spikes, such as alternators for power generation, motors for engine starting, and electric clutches for air conditioning compressors. Some expensive commercial cigarette adapters have measures to eliminate high-voltage spikes, but not all products have sufficient resistance, leading to frequent failures of connected electronic devices. The "CAT-PT1" has demonstrated its resistance in transient voltage surge tests up to 28V according to ISO 7637-2 at specialized institutions. By connecting the "CAT-PT1" between an existing power adapter (cigarette adapter) and electronic devices, it suppresses overvoltage and outputs voltage within normal ratings. The "CAT-PT1" is effective in environments where high-voltage spikes occur, such as factories, stores, and construction sites, not just in vehicles, for continuously operating electronic devices.
