FPGA Replacement Contract Development - Response to Component Production Discontinuation

The devices currently in mass production have a new order lead time of over 2 years?! No matter how long we wait, we can't get a delivery date, and at this rate, we won't be able to produce anything. Should we boldly make a change?!!

I believe this is a problem that those in materials and development are struggling with. However, on the other hand, it is also a suitable situation for actively making revisions. Semiconductor components continue to rise in price, and particularly older products are increasing in cost without mercy. This brings us to the current discussion: let's consider the benefits of changing the core component, FPGA, by making revisions. Ideally, we would like to replace components without changing the circuit board at all, but in reality, there are not many patterns where replacement can be done with pin-compatible products. Some changes will be necessary. By replacing with new products, the risk of end-of-life (EOL) concerns is lower compared to existing products, and there is a high possibility that the unit cost of the devices can be kept low. Additionally, since this will be contract development, we can make proposals that are not constrained by existing frameworks.
