Next-generation ultra-heat-resistant ball bearings with laser cladding.
■Background of Research and Development The maximum operating temperature of commercially available metal ball bearings is approximately 400°C. In higher temperature environments, ceramic ball bearings are used; however, their application is limited due to issues such as impact resistance/strength (load capacity), size constraints, and cost. This research aims to solve existing problems by raising the operating temperature of metal ball bearings from 400°C to 600°C, thereby extending the lifespan of ball bearings, reducing energy consumption due to decreased rotational driving force, simplifying equipment, and improving equipment utilization rates, ultimately striving for breakthroughs in various industrial production activities.
