In June 2020, the Food Sanitation Act was amended, and a positive list system was introduced for synthetic resins that come into direct contact with food. This system involves creating a list of substances for which safety has been confirmed, and, in principle, prohibits the use of any substances not on the list. A transitional measure is in place until May 31, 2025, during which some oil-less products need to be switched over.
