**Why measure a person's posture and movements?** The ease or difficulty with which a person handles objects in their daily life is unconsciously reflected in their posture and movements. For example, the way one opens a container differs between easy-to-open and hard-to-open containers. Furthermore, the way one walks varies between comfortable and uncomfortable shoes. Additionally, the condition of a person's body is also reflected in their posture and movements. For instance, changes in walking style can occur due to aging or illness. Research has shown that individuals at higher risk for dementia tend to have slower walking speeds. Conversely, those who regularly engage in physical training show improvements in their walking posture. **Why can it be measured without markers?** A depth camera captures data on the entire body shape of a person (surface point cloud). However, this data alone does not provide information about joint positions. By overlaying this data with a standard human model of similar height, it is possible to determine joint positions.
