**Why Measure Human Posture and Movement?** The ease or difficulty with which a person handles objects manifests unconsciously in their posture and movements. For example, the way one opens a container differs between easy-to-open and hard-to-open containers. Similarly, the way one walks varies between comfortable and uncomfortable shoes. Furthermore, the state of a person's body also reflects in their posture and movements. For instance, changes in walking posture can occur due to aging or illness. Research has shown that individuals at higher risk for dementia tend to have slower walking speeds. Conversely, those who regularly engage in physical training exhibit improvements in their walking posture. **Why Measure Without Markers?** A depth camera captures data on the entire body shape of a person (surface point cloud data). However, this data alone does not provide information about joint positions. By overlaying this data with a standard human model of similar height, we can determine the joint positions.
