Each sheet-like actuator that composes a robot expressing a highly flexible complex surface is deformed into a surface shape along a specified constant mean curvature surface. Constant mean curvature surfaces include spheres, cylindrical surfaces, catenoids (suspended surfaces), unduloids, and nodoids. Since these shape functions can be easily written, the robot's complex surface can be expressed with a minimal parameter setting.
