This is a bone conduction type intercom. At the request of an automotive parts manufacturer, I was responsible for product design, concept development, detailed design, and prototyping. ◆Background Leading to Introduction In noisy environments such as construction sites and factories, regular intercoms (headsets) may fail to transmit information, which can pose significant safety issues. Additionally, in recent times, there has been an increase in communication opportunities among referees in stadiums for confirming decisions, leading to a growing demand for devices that can be heard amidst the noise. ◆Solution To improve audibility, we conducted several tests on the placement of the bone conduction module and the pressure applied, after which we proceeded with the actual design and finalized the overall frame. We also considered portability, designing a structure that can be folded in the center, and conducted wiring bending tests. ◆Effect At the prototype level, we confirmed a range of effects.
