"Can't Ask Now! Basic Knowledge of Electric Lock Control" Differences Between Electric Locks and Electronic Locks
Basic knowledge, applications, and case studies about electric locks are published!
What is the difference between "electric locks" and "electronic locks"? - An "electric lock" uses a power source. Strictly speaking, it requires a control panel for power, which is wired to operate the electric lock. Electric locks are installed within doors and other fixtures (some types are also available as external units). Therefore, compared to electronic locks, they are more resistant to external impacts and can be used more reliably. To install the control panel, which powers the electric lock, one must have the qualifications of an electrician, as stipulated by the "Electrician Law." - An "electronic lock" primarily uses batteries. Electronic locks are often installed over existing locks and are powered by batteries. Additionally, most electronic locks come with built-in authentication terminals such as card readers or keypads, and they can be easily installed, but the batteries need to be replaced every 1 to 2 years. No qualifications are required for the installation of electronic locks, so anyone can install them. However, while they are easy to install, they may be prone to coming loose from the door or being weaker against impacts compared to electric locks. ★ At JEI, we can accommodate various electric locks from different manufacturers. basic information
[Special Edition] A lock that uses an electromagnet is called an "electromagnetic lock." It has a very simple structure where electricity is supplied to the electromagnets installed on both the frame side and the door side to attract and lock, and when the electricity is turned off, it stops attracting and unlocks. One of its features is high durability due to this simplicity. Electric locks with moving parts may deteriorate more quickly depending on usage frequency, but electromagnetic locks perform locking and unlocking by attracting surfaces (without moving parts), making them suitable for doors with high traffic. Additionally, being able to accommodate various types of doors is another advantage. ★JEI's electric lock control panel is compatible with most electric locks from various manufacturers. It also comes standard with a panic open function that allows for simultaneous unlocking of electric locks through integration with automatic fire alarms and built-in seismic sensors. (Simultaneous locking, known as "panic close," is also possible.) ★JEI's electric lock control panel comes standard with a seismic sensor for systems with 4 circuits (CB-4) or more. ★For more details, please feel free to contact us.
