Inorganic zinc is officially referred to as "inorganic zinc-rich paint" and "inorganic zinc-rich primer." The difference between these two lies in the distinction between thick film type and thin film type, which can be a bit complicated. For this project, we used the thick film type of inorganic zinc-rich paint. This paint contains a large amount of zinc powder and is specifically designed for priming. Zinc has a greater tendency to ionize than iron, making it more prone to rust. Therefore, the paint serves to protect the iron by rusting in its place.
