This mother liquor exerts compressive stress on the crystals during freezing, degrading their crystallinity. Therefore, reducing the amount of mother liquor improves the resolution of the crystals. "ActiLoops" is a protein crystal mounting and measurement tool designed to hydrophilize the surfaces of the loop, groove, and reservoir, allowing the excess mother liquor remaining in the loop to be naturally discharged into the reservoir through the groove.
