The NB7140 series is equipped with industry-leading high-precision overcharge, over-discharge, and discharge overcurrent detection functions for single-cell applications, as well as a forced standby function. Additionally, it has improved the flexibility of the voltage setting for prohibiting charging of 0V batteries (low-voltage batteries). Furthermore, the NB7140 series features a forced reset function, while the NB7141 series is the world's first single-cell protection IC to include a watchdog timer function. This enhances safety, contributes to high precision, low power consumption, improved safety, and space-saving, thereby enhancing the competitiveness of our customers' lithium-ion battery applications.

1. World's first built-in watchdog timer (NB7141) By incorporating a watchdog timer, it becomes possible to monitor the microcontroller's runaway behavior from the outside. There is no need to add a separate dedicated IC, which reduces the implementation area. Additionally, compared to a watchdog timer built into the microcontroller, there is no risk of malfunction due to common factors, ensuring greater safety. 2. Forced reset function (NB7140) By using the RST (reset) pin, the charge/discharge FET can be turned OFF, making it easier to conduct leakage tests on the protection circuit. Furthermore, by providing an RST pin, the system's power supply can be cut off by turning OFF the FET during microcontroller runaway, and resetting the microcontroller's power supply can improve system stability.
