[Case Study on Problem Solving] Prevention of Unusual Noises Caused by Stick-Slip Phenomenon Between Resin and Metal
Abolishing grease application and adopting DC2910! Examples of dry lubrication coating dry surfaces.
We would like to introduce a case of preventing abnormal noise caused by stick-slip phenomena between resin and metal in movable automotive cup holders and similar products. We were using grease lubrication to maintain low friction, but it was difficult to quantify, leading to occasional abnormal noise. Therefore, we discontinued grease application and adopted a dry lubrication coating, DC2910, which excels in low friction properties for the sliding parts on the metal side. This change not only improved reliability but also maintained rust resistance through processing on the plating. [Key Points for Problem Solving] - The trend of using resin for parts due to weight reduction is very common, not limited to this example. - Abnormal noises, such as so-called "buzzing sounds," occur due to discontinuous friction states. - To prevent this, the range of coatings with excellent low friction stability is expanding. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

basic information
【Case Summary】 <Challenge> ■ Grease lubrication was used to maintain low friction, but quantification was difficult, and abnormal noises sometimes occurred. <Result> ■ The application of grease was discontinued, and a dry lubrication coating, DC2910, which excels in low friction properties, was adopted for the sliding parts on the metal side. ■ The discontinuation of the grease application process also led to improved reliability. ■ The coating is applied over plating, maintaining rust resistance. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.
