Titanium materials were considered difficult to prepare for EBSD, but we perform EBSD analysis on a wide variety of titanium materials using our unique preparation method.
Our company uses EBSD measurements to obtain crystallographic information that cannot be discerned through microstructural observation alone, providing valuable insights for material development. Additionally, while titanium materials have been considered difficult to prepare for EBSD analysis (polishing techniques) compared to conventional steel materials, our unique preparation method has made it possible to conduct EBSD analysis on a wide variety of titanium materials.

basic information
1. What is Titanium Alloy Titanium is characterized by its lightweight, high corrosion resistance, and high specific strength, making it suitable for use in aerospace, medical applications, and power generation and chemical plants. It is also commonly found in everyday items such as golf clubs. Titanium is classified into three types based on its crystal structure: α type (pure titanium), α+β type (Ti-6Al-4V), and β type (JIS80 types). The α type and α+β type are suitable for high-temperature applications, while the β type is used for high formability or toughness applications. Additionally, there are Ti-Al alloys that have improved strength and heat resistance due to the addition of aluminum. 2. Evaluation of Titanium Materials Using EBSD By using EBSD measurements to evaluate various titanium materials, we can obtain crystallographic information that cannot be discerned through microstructural observation alone, providing valuable insights for material development. 3. Main Information Obtained from EBSD Analysis (1) Crystal orientation (IPF map, pole figure, Schmid Factor map) (2) Crystal phase (Phase map) (3) Strain (KAM map, GROD map, GAM map, GOS map) (4) Grain size
