In contrast, we have independently developed a method to shape microstructures represented by the moth-eye structure by applying the technology accumulated since the era of Sony Chemical, which is used in the manufacturing of Blu-ray discs. Optical discs, represented by Blu-ray discs and DVDs, record information through small continuous depressions (pits) on their surfaces. In the production of anti-reflective films with microstructures, we first prepare a cylindrical (roll) master plate that serves as the mold for shape transfer.
