In emergencies, the time lost in transporting sampled materials to a well-equipped lab for analysis and the risk of contamination of the lab and exposure to workers due to bringing unknown samples into the lab must be minimized. Quant4 GR1 is a gamma-ray analysis device equipped with the KromeK company's CZT detector GR1+, which has already proven effective in many field sites, research institutions, and universities. The room-temperature semiconductor detector allows for measurements without waiting or even while in transit. While its energy resolution and efficiency do not match the highest-grade Ge semiconductor detectors, its high resolution of less than 2% FWHM (at 662 keV) can accommodate many nuclides in the field.
