A case of designing and manufacturing a custom RR hydraulic cylinder that meets strict dimensional specifications!
The crawler transporter, built in 1965, has been transporting rockets and spacecraft to the launch pad at Kennedy Space Center for over 40 years. However, modifications were necessary to transport combinations of rockets and launch towers that are heavier than the rockets for which the crawler was designed, and considerable force was required to remove and install new bearings to attach the redesigned traction roller assembly to the crawler track. Enerpac designed and manufactured custom RR hydraulic cylinders that provide the appropriate amount of force and conform to strict dimensional specifications.
