[Construction Example] Improving the Lifespan of Aluminum Die Casting Molds: Kanak OX Treatment
Suppression of melting and seizing! A case where lifespan improved by 5.4 times compared to untreated, up to 38,000 shots.
Traditionally, molds were used without treatment, resulting in a short lifespan of 7,000 shots due to galling and melting. Surface treatment had not been used until now, but it was implemented due to negative impacts on product quality and costs. As a result of the "Kanack OX treatment," the lifespan improved to 38,000 shots, which is 5.4 times longer than untreated molds. [Case Summary] ■ Traditional Issues - Melting - Galling ■ Treatment Effects (due to improved surface hardness) - Suppression of melting - Suppression of galling *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Kanak processing is a gas nitriding treatment using a unique method. The material is held in a heating atmosphere of around 500°C for several hours, allowing nitrogen to diffuse from the surface of the steel and react with metal elements to form a hardened layer. Unlike conventional nitriding treatments, there are very few brittle iron nitride compounds near the surface, and the high compressive residual stress along with a smooth hardness distribution are characteristics of Kanak processing.
