POLYSEED is a microbial complex formulation designed to establish a standard plant species for the measurement of BOD (Biochemical Oxygen Demand) in industrial and urban wastewater. This product consists of granulated powdered cultured microorganisms encapsulated in gelatin capsules.

■Features of POLYSEED To measure BOD (Biochemical Oxygen Demand), it is essential to have a sufficient population of microorganisms that can oxidize biodegradable organic matter. Generally, satisfactory sources for collecting microorganisms include treated water before chlorination from urban sewage and wastewater treatment plants, as well as river water that receives this treated water and wastewater. On the other hand, types of wastewater that do not contain a sufficient population of microorganisms include untreated industrial wastewater, disinfected wastewater, high-temperature wastewater, and wastewater with abnormal pH levels. A preferred source of microorganisms for wastewater is the treated water from biological treatment systems that process that wastewater before disinfection, or treated water from biological treatment systems handling similar wastewater. However, obtaining these is quite difficult, and the overflow from settled sewage (primary settled sewage) is also unlikely to contain the necessary microorganisms. This product is an extremely effective microbial preparation for addressing the various issues mentioned above, allowing for the easy and stable acquisition of inoculum for BOD (Biological Oxygen Demand) measurement.
