Achieving traditional testing methods (official methods) more quickly and accurately. This is realized through automation.
The MicroBio μ3D AutoScanner accurately measures the number of bacteria by analyzing colonies in 3D. By simply setting the prepared culture medium in the device, it automatically measures the number of colonies. It detects from the level of microcolonies and continuously monitors, allowing for faster and more accurate measurement of bacterial counts compared to traditional visual inspection methods.

basic information
■ Accurate measurement of bacterial count using 3D colony analysis - By utilizing a special technique that captures the shadows of colonies with a color camera, 3D data of the colonies is created, enabling differentiation from residues derived from products. - Using a multi-focus method that takes advantage of lens chromatic aberration, it is possible to focus simultaneously regardless of depth from the agar surface, allowing for reliable measurement even in mixed cultures (chromatic aberration refers to the displacement of an image caused by the wavelength of light when forming an image with a lens). ■ Conversion of 2D images to 3D data - A 2D image capturing the shadow of a colony is converted into 3D data by a computer. As time passes during cultivation, the volume of the colony increases in addition to its area, allowing for accurate differentiation from product-derived residues. ■ Accurate measurement of bacterial count is possible - For example, it is possible to detect colonies hidden beneath food residues. The 3D data obtained at hour 0 alone cannot determine whether a colony is present. However, by comparing the 3D data obtained at hour 18 with that obtained at hour 0, it becomes clear that there are colonies present beneath the food residues.
