[Case Study] Response to Amendments of Specialized Substance Prevention Regulations

Specialized substances require management at suppressive concentrations, so confirmation through measurement is necessary! Introduction of improvement cases.

We would like to introduce the issues and improvement measures related to the amendments to the Special Substances Prevention Regulations. In grinding operations involving special substances (cobalt), it is difficult to enclose only the grinding area due to the presence of optical devices attached to the grinding equipment. Additionally, since the management of special substances (cobalt) is based on suppression concentration, confirmation through measurement is necessary, which posed certain challenges. As an improvement measure, we implemented an external hood system by enclosing the back of the suction inlet (the back of the equipment) with a curtain, allowing us to confirm the suppression concentration at the designed airflow.
