Infomart, Survey on Overtime Limit Regulations in the Construction Industry and the Status of Business Digitalization

◆ The most common method of document exchange is "paper" Infomart Co., Ltd. announced the results of a survey on "Overtime Limit Regulations and the Status of Digitalization in Business" targeting 362 employees in the construction industry on June 15. As a result, regarding the "Overtime Limit Regulations" starting in fiscal 2024, less than 10% of respondents said they "know about it and can explain it to others," while about half answered "I don't know." In terms of business digitalization, the most common method of document exchange was "paper" at about 30%, followed by "Excel or spreadsheets" at about 20%. Notably, the response that invoices are on paper accounted for about 40%, the highest among all documents. ◆ Over 60% manually transcribe invoices The most common method for transcribing various document data into the system was "transcribing from Excel or spreadsheets," followed by "manual transcription from paper," with over 60% manually transcribing invoices. About 30% of sales representatives reported spending more than three hours a day on "traveling for document exchanges," revealing wasted time caused by "paper." Construction IT journalist Ryuta Ieiri stated that by eliminating the three wastes of "wasted travel," "wasted effort," and "wasted time searching for items," construction DX can be further promoted.
