NMEA multiplexer/expander for exchanging navigation data compliant with IEC 60945 and IEC 61162.
There are various IEC 61162-compliant NMEA expanders and multiplexers to ensure reliable data exchange between navigation devices. All modules are galvanically isolated and partially protected by redundant power supplies. Differential serial data transmission compliant with NMEA 0183 can be used as RS422. The multiplexer collects various data from up to 8 transmitters and combines them to send to different receivers such as radar and ECDIS. In addition to these standard functions, signal filtering, modification, and recalculation can also be performed. The header and checksum can be directly modified on-site using configuration software during installation. Special solutions, such as calculating true wind or inverting wind direction by 180 degrees, are also possible. A particularly popular product is the high-performance 8-channel NMEA matrix equipped with a network interface compliant with the IEC61162-450 standard. The NMEA expander distributes signals received from echo sounders and GPS to up to 12 receivers. In the event of a failure in the primary input, individual modules can automatically switch to the redundant input.
