From the Basics to Practice of Luminance Evaluation and Illuminance Evaluation
This is an online seminar that provides a comprehensive explanation of the evaluation of brightness and color of light around us, from the fundamental principles of evaluation metrics to practical measurement examples using devices. It includes essential foundational knowledge for those evaluating the brightness and color of light-emitting objects, such as displays, as well as the brightness of environments in lighting-related fields. The seminar is structured in three parts: Basics, Luminance, and Illuminance, and you can attend only the parts that interest you.

Event Date: September 28, 2023 (Thursday) 13:10–16:00 Basic Course Time: 13:10–14:00 In the basic course, we will focus on "luminous quantities," which are the evaluation metrics for light that we perceive. We will explain the concept of luminous quantities, the differences between typical luminous quantities such as luminance and illuminance, and the concepts of chromaticity and color temperature in a way that is easy for beginners to understand. Luminance Course Time: 14:15–15:00 In the luminance course, we will provide an overview of the mechanisms of general luminance meters. We will also introduce key points for selecting devices to ensure stable measurements in low luminance areas where measurement accuracy can be challenging, as well as appropriate operational methods for luminance meters. Illuminance Course Time: 15:15–16:00 In the illuminance course, we will explain the use, features, and precautions of illuminance, which we use to evaluate the brightness of spaces. Additionally, we will discuss the concept of color rendering index for evaluating how objects appear under lighting conditions, as well as general operational methods for illuminance meters.

Color and light measurement instruments and appearance inspection systems, hyperspectral cameras While there are standards for length and weight, there are none for color. We have created a standard for color, which each person could only perceive through their senses, by measuring and quantifying it. Our goal is to provide a reference value for color and light that replaces the uncertain human eye. This means creating a "ruler" that everyone can use to measure color with confidence. It should provide consistent and stable values anytime and anywhere. Additionally, it is important that the values from the measuring instruments match what is visually observed. We aim to deliver reliable values regardless of the environment in which measurements are taken around the world. Our advanced technology for measuring color and light brings safety and peace of mind to our customers and enhances product value.
