In a projected capacitive touch panel, the transparent conductive film's ITO layer (Indium Tin Oxide) is patterned and arranged in a matrix (driving electrodes and receiving electrodes). These driving and receiving electrodes are separated by an insulating material to prevent them from coming into contact with each other. When a conductive material, such as a finger, touches the surface, the system detects the change in capacitance between the finger and the electrode (ITO layer) to determine the touch position.
