Started evaluation at Toyota Motor Corporation for utilization in palletizing and depalletizing robots.
We have developed a robotic hand (with flexible fingers) for handling returnable containers (plastic containers). It is intended for use in palletizing and depalletizing robots. This flexible finger is composed of a lattice structure, which is a three-dimensional grid structure that can only be created using a 3D printer, resulting in a complex shape. This structure achieves "softness" while maintaining durability, allowing for stable gripping of complex box shapes. To automate the loading and unloading of returnable containers, we have begun evaluations at Toyota Motor Corporation's Manufacturing Engineering Department. Until now, in situations where various standards and shapes of returnable containers are mixed, there have been challenges such as "inability to grip the boxes stably" and "boxes breaking," making automation difficult. To address this, we are utilizing the flexible fingers with a lattice structure.
