By continuously reducing nickel ions, the film thickness increases! An explanation of the uniformity of the plating film.
One of the main reasons for the use of electroless nickel plating is the uniformity of the plating film (thickness). Unlike electroplating, where the plating film tends to form more easily in areas with higher current density (corners and edges) due to their shape, electroless nickel plating utilizes the reduction reaction between the plating solution and the substrate (material) to generate a nickel coating uniformly on the surface of the substrate, as it comes into contact (immersion) with the plating solution. The principle is that when the substrate is immersed in the plating solution, the reducing agent, hypophosphite, in the solution is oxidized to phosphite, and during this process, it releases electrons, which reduce the nickel ions in the plating solution and deposit them as a nickel coating on the surface of the substrate. *For detailed content of the column, please refer to the related links.
