Sufficient removal is possible with about 2 hours of heating! Explanation of hydrogen embrittlement.
In hard chrome plating treatment, a large amount of hydrogen gas is generated during the processing in the plating bath and is absorbed into the deposited chrome plating layer. The amount of hydrogen accumulated in the plating layer varies depending on factors such as plating thickness, plating time, and treatment bath, but it is generally considered that sufficient removal can be achieved by heating (baking) at around 190°C to 220°C for about 2 hours. There is also a description of hydrogen embrittlement in "JIS H8615 Industrial Chrome Plating," but it is noted for reference, and the conditions for hydrogen embrittlement removal will be determined considering factors such as plating thickness. *For detailed content of the column, please refer to the related links.
