Friction welding: a joint stronger than the base material.
The parts joined by friction stir welding are characterized by high strength and precision. By using frictional heat and high pressure, impurities at the joint surface are expelled, allowing the entire contact surface to be joined, resulting in a joint that is stronger than that achieved through welding. The tensile strength of the joint area processed by friction stir welding becomes stronger than that of the base material, and when a tensile test is conducted, the fracture occurs in the base material rather than at the joint.
