In addition to miniaturization, excellent heat resistance and high current handling are achieved due to high magnetic saturation characteristics.
Our company has expanded the lineup of metal composite power inductors, METCOM, for automotive applications. In addition to the MPXV series, which offers a wide range of size variations, and the MPEV series, which enables operation at high temperatures of up to 180°C, we have released the MPGV series, which achieves a vibration resistance of 50G due to its high vibration-resistant structure. The MPXV, MPEV, and MPGV series are power inductors that, by adopting a metal composite structure, enable miniaturization and excellent heat resistance and high current handling due to their high magnetic saturation characteristics. The MPXV series supports up to 155°C and offers a rich variety, while the MPEV series achieves even greater heat resistance with a rating of 180°C. The MPGV series realizes a vibration resistance of 50G due to its high vibration-resistant structure. Each series complies with the automotive standard AEC-Q200.

basic information
<MPXV Series> We offer a rich lineup of 213 types in 7 sizes ranging from 5×5mm to 22×22mm, with variations in inductance and product height. <MPEV Series> This version enhances the heat resistance of the MPXV series, allowing for use at temperatures up to 180°C, making it ideal for applications that require higher temperature tolerance. The lineup includes two sizes: 6×6mm with a height of 3mm and 10×10mm with a height of 4mm, offering a total of 24 variations in inductance. <MPGV Series> Utilizing Tokin's unique press molding technology and terminal structure, this series achieves a high vibration resistance of 50G with a robust structure. It is perfect for applications that require resilience in harsh vibration environments due to the increasing power of electric vehicles and the integration of electromechanical systems. The lineup includes 10×10×5.4mm with 13 variations available. All of these are primarily used in automotive applications, with a lineup of inductances around 1–10µH suitable for DC/DC converter circuits operating at switching frequencies of several hundred kHz to several MHz.

The MPXV, MPEV, and MPGV series are very useful as inductors for boosting and bucking in automotive switching DC/DC converters, as well as for input/output filters. In recent years, automobiles have made significant strides in electronics, with features like fully LCD meter cluster panels, and there is a growing demand for high-speed data processing, leading to the installation of numerous high-performance ECUs (Electronic Control Units) equivalent to computer levels. Due to the demand for miniaturization in their power supplies, high-speed switching of DC/DC converters has become one of the trends. Naturally, addressing the harsh temperature conditions and transient phenomena unique to automotive applications enhances the advantages of metal composite inductors significantly. They are suitable for various automotive ECU applications that require high heat resistance and vibration resistance, including LED headlights, meter cluster panels, head-up displays (HUD), electric water pumps (EWP), electric oil pumps (EOP), and electric power steering (EPS).

The origin of Tokin lies in "materials." Currently, human society is evolving towards a global ubiquitous society due to the advancement of information and communication technology. We believe that our mission is to create key devices that drive this innovation by tracing back to the materials. Based on our unique material development capabilities and high-density device manufacturing power, we aim to create devices that govern the flow of society. With this, we hope to contribute, albeit modestly, to the realization of a vibrant society grounded in advanced information and communication technology.
