It is possible to evaluate the orientation of ferrite magnets using EBSD.
One of the important characteristics of anisotropic magnets is the residual magnetic flux density. The more aligned the direction of the easy magnetization axis is, that is, the higher the crystal orientation, the greater the residual magnetic flux density. Therefore, understanding the orientation of the easy magnetization axis is extremely important for the development of anisotropic magnets and the motors that use them. The orientation of ferrite magnets can be evaluated using EBSD.

basic information
We conducted a wide-area mapping of the angular difference between the ideal direction (normal to the paper surface) and the easy magnetization axis using the montage method of EBSD for ring-shaped anisotropic ferrite magnets. It was revealed that the angular difference varies by location, with a difference of about 5% observed in the degree of orientation.
