This is a device that applies pulsating back pressure to the exhaust of a vehicle and conducts durability tests on the muffler. It is used to verify compliance with the regulation 81/334/EEC pulsation test.
The structure is designed to direct the total exhaust gas from a vehicle or engine, adjusted to the output and rotation speed specified by regulations, into this device, and then discharge it externally via a valve. When the vehicle or engine is connected in an operational state, closing this valve increases the exhaust pressure, while opening it decreases the pressure. The opening and closing of the valve applies pressure load to the muffler, and the valve will be opened and closed continuously up to the specified number of times (2500 times) at the specified pressure (35 kPa).
