Central Research Institute of Electric Power Industry - Exploring Peak Load Suppression Measures through Analysis of System Peak Load Factors during EV Charging
Our company will hold a seminar on "The System Impact and Countermeasures of Increased Charging Due to the Spread of Electric Vehicles (EVs)." Currently, efforts are being made to promote the introduction of electric vehicles (EVs) in order to achieve carbon neutrality (CN) by 2050. However, there are voices expressing concerns that "if EVs become widely adopted, a significant peak load may occur, and the system may not be able to handle it." While there are many estimates of peak loads caused by EV charging, the results can vary greatly depending on the conditions under which the estimates are made. In this presentation, we will clarify the factors that influence the peak and those that do not, highlighting key points to consider when reviewing estimation results. Additionally, if we can identify the main factors affecting the peak, it will also be possible to suppress the peak, so we will provide detailed explanations of peak suppression measures.
