[Seminar] Offshore Wind Power Generation in Ishikari City, Hokkaido, Aiming to Become a "Profitable Municipality"
<Tokyo Event> Mayor Ryuki Kato Special Invitation "Efforts for Decarbonization in Local Production for Local Consumption Urban Development"
We will hold a seminar titled "Offshore Wind Power Generation in Ishikari City, Hokkaido, Aiming to Become a 'Profitable Municipality.'" Ishikari City is striving to become a "profitable municipality." For local governments facing population decline, securing independent income is essential for protecting citizens' lives, including social infrastructure, education, healthcare, and welfare. Ishikari City has garnered national attention in the context of decarbonization, but we view decarbonization not as an end goal, but as a means to achieve our objectives. A central initiative in this effort is the "RE Zone" concept, which aims to supply 100% local renewable energy to the 100 hectares of the industrial park "Ishikari Bay New Port Area." We aim to create an industrial space that provides global added value through decarbonization and fosters corporate aggregation. By utilizing local renewable energy, such as offshore wind power, we promote industrial development through "local production for local consumption," bringing vitality and capital to the city. This is Ishikari City's approach to decarbonization.
