The DDS (Direct Digital Synthesis) function added to the AWG is a method for generating arbitrary periodic waveforms from a single fixed-frequency reference clock, which is useful for signal generation applications that require fast frequency switching or fine-tuning. The implemented DDS function has multiple "DDS cores," enabling waveform outputs such as multi-carrier and multi-tone. The phase and frequency settings of each DDS core are determined by describing the required cores and their positions in a memory lookup table (LUT). Amplitude values, slopes, and other parameters can also be set. The M4i.66xx series has 23 cores and can generate up to 20 sine waves. In high-speed DMA mode, more advanced frequency changes, such as shaped slopes or modulated sine wave signals, can be performed using DDS command sequences (with DDS command processing at 10 million times/sec). By using this DDS function, qubit peripheral devices (such as AOM, AOD, EOM) or qubits can be controlled rapidly with simple commands, enabling fast and complex various quantum operations within the qubit.
