<Sapporo Event> JR Hokkaido: Towards the Hokkaido Shinkansen "Shin-Hakodate (tentative name) to Sapporo"
Our company will hold a seminar titled "Progress and Future Developments of Urban Development around Sapporo Station." The extension of the Hokkaido Shinkansen to Sapporo is scheduled for the end of fiscal year 2030. This extension will significantly shorten travel time between Honshu and Hokkaido, leading to expected economic and social benefits in Hokkaido. In particular, the reduction in travel time to the Kanto and Tohoku regions will be substantial, and additionally, the increase in transportation options will help mitigate the risks of traffic disruptions due to severe winter weather. Furthermore, since the Shinkansen connects cities along a line, its effects will expand over a wider area. To maximize the benefits of the Sapporo extension, it is crucial to develop urban areas along the line and enhance connections with secondary transportation at Shinkansen stations, including Sapporo Station, thereby expanding the effects from linear to area-wide.
