Cemented carbide tools are made from tungsten carbide (WC) containing cobalt, and to further enhance their performance, coatings such as TiN, TiC, AlN, and DLC are applied. Traditionally, measuring the thermal properties of these coating layers has been very difficult, but our Thermal Microscope TM3 can measure them.
