We will hold a seminar titled "Fundamentals and Latest Trends in Water and Sewerage PPP Projects." Water and sewerage services are essential infrastructure for municipal operations that support citizens' lives and industries. In recent years, both water supply and sewage systems have transitioned from an era of expansion and development to one focused on sustainability, operation, and renewal. Additionally, public-private partnerships have been introduced in six concession projects centered around sewage systems in cities like Hamamatsu and Miyagi Prefecture. In June of the 5th year of Reiwa, the national government presented "Water PPP" as a new PPP method, aiming for the introduction of 200 projects in water supply and sewage systems over the next decade, indicating significant developments in this area. This lecture will explain the systems and current status regarding the management, finance, and operational frameworks of Japan's water and sewerage services, as well as initiatives for public-private partnerships and regional collaboration, detailing anticipated movements in the future of these services.
