【Main Use Cases】 ■ Biodegradability testing and BOD value measurement of various materials Examples: Biodegradable plastics, biodegradable polymers, etc. 【Measurement Method】*Automatically performed - Aerobic conditions CO2 generated from biodegradation is absorbed by a NaOH solution at the top of the reactor, and the volume of O2 introduced into the reactor from the gas bag due to the generated negative pressure is measured with a micro gas flow meter. The BOD value is calculated from the measured O2 volume. The biodegradation degree is calculated from the ratio of the continuously measured BOD value to the ThOD (theoretical oxygen demand). - Anaerobic conditions Under anaerobic conditions, the sample decomposes in a sealed reactor, and the generated biogas is measured with a micro gas flow meter. The volume of CO2 and CH4 measured here is used to calculate the amount of gaseous carbon contained within, and the biodegradation degree is calculated. *For more details, please refer to the catalog.
