"FEMFAT MELCOM" is a software package developed by Magna Powertrain Engineering Center Steyr (ECS) to predict defects on printed circuit boards (PCBs) incorporated in power electronics products such as inverters through simulation. 【Features】 ■ Predicts cracks in solder joints on printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) due to vibrations in power electronics products. ■ Predicts flex cracks in multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCCs) during the process of attaching PCBAs to power modules. ■ Predicts cracks due to thermal fatigue in response to temperature loads on PCBAs. *For more details, please download the PDF or contact us.

FEMFAT MELCOM supports the standardization of structural analysis tasks for power electronics products. - Automates the creation of PCBA models (incorporating detailed models such as pins from simple models to sub-models) - Creates a database of alternative models for surface-mounted devices (SMD) (additional registrations are possible) - Creates a database of detailed models for solder joints (additional registrations are possible) - Automatically places SMDs on PCBs and constructs PCBA simulation models automatically - Sets boundary conditions for PCBA, automatically executes structural analysis and vibration fatigue analysis, and provides an efficient post-processing environment Executes vibration fatigue analysis in the time domain (sine sweep and shock input) and frequency domain (random vibration) - Generates boundary conditions for maximum tolerance scenarios and statistical approaches in the PCBA assembly process, executes structural analysis, and provides a post-processing environment - Templates model creation and structural analysis for executing thermal fatigue analysis
