[Seminar] Kajima Corporation: Initiatives, Challenges, and Future Developments in Blue Carbon
Diving into the sea to cultivate underwater forests, from restoration technology to the application for blue carbon credits.
Our company will hold a business seminar. Kashima Construction, the only major general contractor with a research facility specialized in marine studies, conducts cutting-edge research on the conservation of marine ecosystems, such as coral reefs and seagrass beds. The ocean, which is said to absorb about 30% of the CO2 emitted on Earth, is also attracting attention for its "blue carbon" storage effects due to the functions of marine ecosystems. However, recent advances in global warming have made it extremely difficult to fully utilize and harness the functions of marine ecosystems. In this context, research and development aimed at efficiently propagating seaweeds and corals has been progressing. The seminar will elaborate on the deployment of coral and seagrass restoration technologies in community activities, the application cases and effects of blue carbon credits, and future challenges. 【Seminar Details】 ■ Date and Time: December 4 (Wednesday) 16:30 - 18:30 (Doors open at 16:00) ■ Venue: JPI Conference Square ■ Address: 5-2-32 Minamiazabu, Minato-ku, Tokyo, Kowa Hiroo Building ■ Speaker: Katsunori Yamaki, Senior Researcher, Earth Environment and Bio Group, Technical Research Institute, Kashima Construction Co., Ltd., Doctor of Fisheries Science *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.
