This is a snap-in relay connector for RCA connectors, widely used for composite video (RCA yellow terminal) and analog stereo audio (RCA red and white terminals). The wiring on the back (inside the wall) is of the type that directly connects wires to the terminal block, allowing for wiring in places where there is not enough space inside the wall or using wires other than RCA cables.
