Precipitation Hardening Stainless Steel [TOKUSHU KINZOKU EXCEL CO., LTD.]
SUS631, SUS632J1, TOKKIN 350
It is a material that has corrosion resistance as stainless steel while enhancing strength! We will propose steel types according to your application and processing methods.
Precipitation-hardened stainless steel is a material that possesses corrosion resistance as a stainless steel while utilizing precipitation hardening (aging) to enhance its strength. Particularly in the case of SUS631, in the annealed (solution heat-treated) state, it has a soft, metastable austenitic phase, allowing it to withstand complex processing similar to austenitic stainless steels. Additionally, by inducing precipitation hardening (heat treatment) after processing, it is possible to improve strength, achieving a combination of workability and high strength through heat treatment. Our company handles three types: SUS631 (17-7PH), SUS632J1 (15-7PH), and TOKKIN 350, and we can suggest steel types according to your applications and processing methods. *1 The general corrosion resistance ranking by system is austenitic > precipitation-hardened > ferritic. *2 Precipitation hardening refers to the artificial aging treatment performed after solution heat treatment, with the stainless steels in the 600 series and maraging steels introduced on this page being representative examples. TOKKIN 350 [TOKKIN Original Product] | This is a Cr-Ni-Mo series stainless steel. It boasts excellent machinability in the solution-treated and annealed states, high strength due to heat treatment, and superior yield and cyclic fatigue strength. Additionally, compared to other precipitation-hardened stainless steels, it has excellent corrosion resistance and oxidation resistance due to the addition of Mo, and since it does not contain Al or Ti, it also has good weldability. |
SUS631 (17-7PH) | This is the most representative type of precipitation-hardened steel that retains the excellent properties of 18-8 stainless steel while being able to increase hardness through heat treatment. |
SUS632J1 (15-7PH) | The solution-treated state of SUS631 (austenitic phase) is soft and can be processed in various ways; however, to achieve high strength, martensitic transformation treatment and precipitation hardening treatment require two or more heat treatments. SUS632J1 is always in the martensitic phase regardless of whether it has undergone solution treatment, allowing for high strength to be achieved with just one heat treatment of precipitation hardening. |
Company information
TOKKIN's materials are everywhere around you, even though you can't see them! TOKKIN is a precision metal materials manufacturer founded in 1940. We produce high-quality, high-value-added materials according to the each customer specifications, such as processing metals into thin strips or sheets by cold rolling to improve mechanical properties, cladding different materials to form a single material, and applying resin or solder to metal surfaces. Our materials are used in a wide range of products, from daily life gadgets such as smart devices, PCs, automobiles, and game consoles to industrial equipment such as semiconductor manufacturing equipment, medical equipment, and textile machinery. Although our material is mostly invisible, it plays an indispensable role in ensuring that the products and their supporting components function well. High-functional materials, made possible only by TOKKIN, support the technologies that are created one after another behind the scenes.
