basic information
"Benefits of Using ISO Sa1" ISO Sa1 is the lowest cleanliness standard for surface preparation performed by blasting. The next higher cleanliness standard, Sa2, requires that the surface be free of "most" mill scale, rust, paint, foreign matter, visible oil and grease, and dirt. In contrast, Sa1 allows for "weakly adhered" materials, which means that they can be removed with a putty knife that does not have a blade. Although some dirt may remain after blasting, it still allows for a reduction in work time and costs compared to ISO St3, known as two-type scraping, while also ensuring a high adhesion between the paint and the surface. By removing foreign matter through blasting and creating a textured surface, the performance of the paint can be maximized, preventing early peeling of the coating and extending the product's lifespan. This type of specification is often selected for products used outdoors.
