[DX Case Study] Alternative Use of Work Sampling in Factories

A case where it became possible to measure working hours even during busy periods, allowing for the calculation of highly accurate standard times.

We would like to introduce a case study of a company that has undergone digital transformation (DX) using the "work sampling method" to measure work time. Samco, a manufacturer of silicon wafers for semiconductors, regularly conducted work sampling using stopwatches with observers in factories across the country to calculate standard times. However, during peak production periods when the factories were operating at full capacity, it became challenging to assign observers. To address this, they provided workers with smartphones equipped with the "Jobtan" app, a tool for measuring work time using smartphones or tablets. This allowed for the measurement of work time even during busy periods, enabling the calculation of highly accurate standard times.
