The MX2033 driver and MX2034 transmitter are Metrix's premier proximity vibration monitoring devices. It has long been recognized that monitoring fluid film bearing machinery with proximity sensors is effective. There are a few exceptions, such as monitoring the crankshaft of reciprocating compressors, but they are very few. Fluid lubrication of fluid film bearings typically significantly dampens the vibrations of the rotor, so vibrations are not detected in the casing.
